LeaseWeb Opens Data Center in Singapore

LeaseWeb, one of the world’s largest hosting brands, with more than 60,000 physical servers under management, is expanding its data center reach into Asia. Its newly established subsidiary, LeaseWeb Asia Pacific, today announced that it has launched a data center operation based at Pacnet’s flagship Singapore CloudSpace II facility (SGCS2), which opened earlier this year.

The new Singapore data center adds a geographically strategic location to LeaseWeb’s global data center footprint. Backed by a strong customer base in Europe and the United States and connected to a worldwide network, the expansion marks an initial step to deliver LeaseWeb’s next-generation cloud infrastructure solutions throughout the Asia Pacific region. At launch, LeaseWeb Asia Pacific will offer on-demand bare metal servers. The company will expand its portfolio with its virtual cloud offering, enabling customers to also deploy and scale their own private clouds at the push of a button.

“Our ambitious growth plan calls for the rapid deployment of data centers throughout the region. This will enable customers from Europe and the U.S. to easily enter Asia Pacific markets, supported by our high-performance infrastructure solutions,” said Bas Winkel, Managing Director, LeaseWeb Asia Pacific. “Pacnet’s strong focus on data center efficiency and operational sustainability matches our own vision, giving customers access to a global platform that delivers unmatched value and performance.”

LeaseWeb Asia Pacific’s data center is connected to a worldwide IP backbone comprised of 52 Points of Presence (PoPs), 33 Internet Exchanges (IXs), and 4.0 Tbps of capacity, which is one of the largest networks of its type in the world.

Bas Winkel added: “This geographical expansion is an exciting step in the development of our platform. Customers can seamlessly deploy and manage their cloud infrastructure from anywhere in the world, backed by a global network. This allows them to bring their applications closer to end-users in the Asia Pacific region, leading to a better user experience, and in turn increase revenue.”

CloudSpace II is one of Pacnet’s flagship data centers with Tier III Design Certification from the Uptime Institute. The facility boasts fully redundant power and cooling systems, advanced fire detection and suppression systems, as well as a latest-generation security access system.

The agreement with Pacnet provides for future data center expansion of LeaseWeb Asia Pacific into other locations in the region, including Hong Kong, Sydney, and Tokyo.
